Year 8 found translation challenging at first – but breaking it into small chunks (opinion → topic → reason → comparison) helped them retrieve key vocabulary and grammar with confidence. A great example of how structured scaffolding supports successful retrieval.

Instead of relying on extended written sentences, this student recorded their learning using: symbols, drawings, key words, visual cues, personal organisation that makes sense to them. Inclusive practice benefits everyone — and independence grows when students are trusted.

I’m not the biggest of readers but managed these and more over 2025. They all gripped me and want to read similar to them. After recommendations for 2026 reads and setting a target to read at least 15 books 📚
