Day 52 (just) - Feeling overwhelmed at all the lovely comments from you all. I am now at home & in own bed. Have managed to set up my NJ feeding tube without too much problem. Have had a little cry as it’s all quite overwhelming & emotional. Now the road to recovery starts. ❤️🩹

Day 28 - 4 weeks ago today I presented myself at A&E. Within 40 minutes I'd been admitted & on Majors. Didn't quite expect to still be here in hospital. Over this time, I have seen the best of Twitter. The outpouring of support & kindness is much appreciated. Thank you 😊 💓

Day 42 - 6 weeks! Had an eventful evening last night - I collapsed & lost consciousness for a while. Crash team was quick to respond. Was all quite scary. Feeling very tired & weak this morning so will likely doze.

This brilliant backpack has arrived which means I can go out & still remain hooked up to my NJ feeding pump - essential when I’m using my pump 24 hours a day. Depending on how I feel, I hope to get outside this weekend.

Day 49 - Happy Saturday! Today marks 7 weeks in hospital 🏥. Feeling refreshed after a shower & change if pjs - small things make a big difference! Also proud of myself as I managed to disconnect & reconnect myself from the food pump without assistance!

Day 51 - today, under the supervision of the nurse, I changed my feed and the tube, in readiness to hopefully be discharged tomorrow! Been referred to specialists in London who will continue with my care. Fingers crossed that tomorrow is the day!

Day 36 - I made it outside!!!! First fresh air in 5 weeks. Mum & dad got me a wheelchair out. Hurting a lot now but it was nice!

Headlines like this sadden me. Throughout this pandemic education colleagues have worked incredibly hard in challenging circumstances. They deserve praise & our support. Schools have stayed open for vulnerable pupils & children of key workers as well as providing online learning.

Day 50 - slight problem with my NJ feeding tube bringing up lots of stomach acid last night. Thank goodness I had another pair of PJs to change into. Tube placement checked & ok ✅ Mainly dozed so far today - isn’t that what Sundays are for?

Day 46 - Good morning. NJ tube is working- currently on a 24 hour feeding cycle. Doctor is happy with progress which is positive. Been referred to specialists at a couple of hospitals in London. Keeping everything crossed that I get released this week 🤞

Today I took my NJ backpack for its first day trip to the seaside! Lovely to spend time with my friend Iain. Was very slow & had to rest lots but it was worth it & lovely to get out for the day to visit Brighton. Am aching lots now so no doubt will spend tomorrow resting in bed!

So, NJ tube had got a kink in both the intestine and stomach which, after an hour and a half of manipulating has now been sorted. Got new antibiotics and will be home tomorrow. I could do without this drama. Unfortunately they said this is a common issue!

Day 47 - Slowly getting used to having the NJ tube in and gaining strength daily. On 3rd feeding cycle. Today the dieticians are going to teach me how to use the feeding pump, in readiness for when I go home. Desperately need my hair cutting! ✂️💇♂️

Still not had my hair cut - just have such little energy & have spent most of day hurting & dozing in bed (hence bed head!). Struggling to get used to the new ‘normal’ with the feeding tube & all the new meds I’m on (including their effects). First appointment next Tuesday

Out of recovery and back in my room. Told that operation went well. Feeling groggy and have no feeling or movement in my right arm. Told that feeling and movement will start to come back in a week. Will hopefully be home tomorrow once pain is fully under control.

Had appointment at UCHL today. Lots of horrible tests. Meet my companion for the next 24 hours! In addition to my NJ tube I've now got a wire down my nose & into my stomach, attached to this machine. Not a particularly pleasant experience!

Day 35 (early hours of morning) - Must get to sleep... 😴🙄😒 unfortunately the new cannula didn't last long. Vein burst and resulted in a rather bloody mess. New cannula and an even BIGGER bloody bandage! I thought I was being wrapped for mummification!
