A positive of your future is not a guaranteed function of time. It requires deliberate and thoughtful action. Individually, or collectively. Stop this, and you forsake your future. @Mitchell_Earl discusses this with @JohnCiannello

The strategy required to find a great opportunity (lots of saying yes and exploring widely) is different from the strategy required to make the most of a great opportunity (lots of saying no and remaining focused).

If they genuinely want to go (rather than feeling pressured), sure. Or if they have a specific goal for what they want out of college and a good plan to afford it. ^All of the above is rarely true. In reality, most don't need college at all. Let alone right after high school.

Your directionless "positive" habits aren't all that positive. They might even have a net negative effect on you. Picking up positive habits is great, but never lose sight of your end goal. Don't let yourself be tyrannized by your own life. @Mitchell_Earl and @JohnCiannello:

Make sure your personal finance is personal. That is the key word. What others think of you does not matter, and making decisions based on that causes long-term harm. @Mitchell_Earl and @JohnCiannello discuss this:

The deliberately curious path provides compounded returns in the long run. It could look difficult early on, but it's the strong foundations that you lay then that counts.

Organizations don't want good students. They want good workers. Succeeding in college does not prepare you for life. Never confuse the two. @MattBeaudreau with @Mitchell_Earl on our workshop for high school graduates:

Here's a productivity hack you won't hear in most places: Ignore productivity hacks. Especially early in your career. The way to be productive is to learn to do the work. That should be the focus first. Learn to work hard first, working smart comes after. @Mitchell_Earl:
