There’s a natural tendency to treat doctors with religious reverence since they traffic in matters of life and death (and in most primitive societies priest & medicine man are one and the same), but in reality there’s not much to distinguish the profession from used car salesmen.
Spending some time with older relatives these past days, it's just remarkable how thoroughly pathologised your average 65 year-old is.
Multiple doctors diagnosing all manner of asymptomatic syndromes, for which no end of bizarre pills and other medical regimens are necessary.
