Spirit isn’t just made of another kind of matter, like ectoplasm or free will juice. That wouldn’t even solve the problem: that stuff would also be subject to scientific analysis. Pretty soon, we’d have people saying the complexity of the human mind can’t be made of “mere.

If I were president for 4 years, I probably wouldn’t be re-elected. If I were dictator for 10 years then reintroduced elections, I’d win for the rest of my life. > eliminate zoning.> delete the Civil Rights Act.> increase the use of execution for crimes and remove procedural.

Sovereign citizens (“the US corporation! Fringe on the flag! Name in lower-case!) would be wrong even if they were right about the details. Law is human. It is not code. You can’t find sneaky hacks because a judge will just say “that’s clearly a sneaky hack, so no.”.
i’ve literally never paid taxes. and i never will. because my parents signed my birth certificate . not me. i never entered into any agreement. so i voided the contract. because they know what they’re doing is illegal.

Believing that there is a simple, teachable formula for identifying “misinformation” is insane, and it makes me wonder where all the epistemologists were during the woke era. That was their moment to shine.
This is the natural result of decades of underfunding education and refusing to combat misinformation.

You must always be able to define The Good without reference to defeating some enemy. Wars should be fought for reasons, for the sake of producing a greater good. What is that good? What is your positive vision of the world?.

Very reasonable take from Fuentes here, though I don’t think the Christian part is necessary. I get to the same place by understanding the concept of a statistical distribution. But maybe most people do need Jesus to reach basic prosocial conclusions.
Nick calls out people who harbor genuine racial hatred. "It's one thing to say there are Whites and blacks, it's a whole other thing to have this persistent antipathy for vast groups of people. That is a low-IQ, dysfunctional thing."

Prediction: zero AI safetyists will die from hunger striking. They will give up and eat.
Hi, my name's Guido Reichstadter, and I'm on hunger strike outside the offices of the AI company Anthropic right now because we are in an emergency. Anthropic and other AI companies are racing to create ever more powerful AI systems. These AI's are being used to inflict serious

A lot of people didn’t get my point here, so I’ll try an analogy: 5’7 is tall for a woman but short for a man. Are the sons of a 5’7 woman likely to be taller or shorter than the male average (5’9)?.
Question for more knowledgeable folks: do relational or molecular heredity studies adjust for these kinds of sex differences? And would the effect be large enough to matter?.

It’s funny when value and fact disagreements cancel out. If I thought unions improved conditions in the West, I would support them. I don’t think that, so I don’t support them.
His argument is that unions improve conditions in the West and the West should suffer so you shouldn’t join your local union lmfao

Basically (and I’m making up the numbers here) if you had a 125 IQ wife and 130 IQ husband (normed to the total population), they might be the same rarity within their sex. Do we expect their male children to have average IQs closer to their fathers, or to the raw-score average.

Sex differences in IQ on the WAIS-IV. “Men obtained a significantly higher Full Scale IQ than women by 2.25 IQ points and on the General Ability Index by 4.05 IQ points.”

The prior “when an adult man and young girl have an angry conflict, the adult man is basically always in the wrong” was enough to read this situation correctly. People wrote whole essays about the nature of the Scottish lower class, but that simple heuristic was less wrong.
It turns out the migrants had violently assaulted the Scottish girl’s friend so hard she got a concussion. That’s why she cane out with knives and called them “kid bashers”. Shame on Scotland police for arresting this girl who was protecting her friend from violent illegals.

It’s nice when people are honest: the taboo against discussing genetic differences between races is entirely due to paranoia about a second holocaust. That’s an illegitimate reason to shut down scientific and policy discourse.

Portland is full of bumper stickers about how dysfunctional people are. Two I’ve seen: “don’t honk or I’ll cry” and “wasting my potential in Portland”. Seems like they’ve dropped the polite fiction and embraced dysfunction itself as a culture/lifestyle.

“My weird lifestyle is every bit as functional and natural as your normal one. I simply need an endless series of awkward workarounds for problems you never experience”.
Polyamory is a perfect illustration of Chesterton’s Fence: a bunch of moderately smart, high-openness people who see no reason why monogamy should be the norm, who then keep bumping into horrible problems that would be solved by monogamy.
