Economic sanctions have become the most destructive form of US warfare. They target civilians & can kill them by the 1000s & 10,000s, depriving them of medicine, food, & life-saving infrastructure e.g. for clean water. It's criminal & the next US President must put an end to it.

This is the result of a 2019 military coup backed by the US gov't and Bolivian white supremacists, that overthrew the democratically elected government of Evo Morales. With decisive help from Luis Almagro, still Secretary General of the OAS.

Incredible: Marco Rubio tweeted today re/Venezuela "Until last week, all sanctions were on individuals, not government" -- Is it possible he doesn't know that the August 2017 sanctions imposed a financial embargo that included most government borrowing? Maybe ...

We specifically asked about stopping arms shipments to Israel, not a ceasefire, because “ceasefire” means so many different things to different people. “Stopping arms shipment” is specific and unambiguous.

Washington has often refused to accept election results it doesn't like, especially in Latin America, but this is a new extremism, declaring elections invalid before we know anything about them. Of course they had no problem with the fraudulent November 26 election in Honduras.

Many thanks to @democracynow for reporting both the crimes of Russia's war in Ukraine and also how the US is directly involved in the crimes of the war in Yemen, for 7 years, which has killed hundreds of thousands of civilians there. And thanks to @sarahleah1 for explaining.

Great to meet Bolivia’s Vice President Álvaro García Linera today, who along with Mexico and Uruguay are already playing an important role in mediating a negotiated political solution in Venezuela.

What does this tell the world about the US government, which continues to prosecute Julian Assange for the "crime" of journalism, using its prosecution to keep him locked up in London's Belmarsh prison for four years?

What is he saying, the Secretary General of the OAS? More sanctions, because kids were malnourished before the sanctions? So it's ok to cause more death and suffering for as long as it takes to get what he & Trump want in #Venezuela ? This is heinous.

Today I spoke at @ShenandoahU about the recent struggle against authoritarianism and dictatorship in the Americas. In #Venezuela , we need more sanctions, no less. Kids are malnourished and were starving long before sanctions were applied to @NicolasMaduro ´s mob #OEAconVzla

This article on Bolsonaro has some useful info but sadly glides past important truths about his rise to power: the impeachment of President Dilma without a crime, & political trial & imprisonment of Lula, the leading candidate in the election, without material evidence:

With the exception of Brazil, which has a right-wing extremist president who was allied with Trump, it's pretty much the high-income countries against the vast majority of the world-- where lives would be saved if this were allowed.

Rubio and Trump want you to think that there was something wrong with Bolivia's election because they want regime change. And they own the OAS leadership right now. But their allegations are false. I explain that here:

Even a sizable minority (30%) of Republicans favor stopping arms shipments. But there is another result that the Biden campaign should be worried about: Of those who did not vote in the 2020 presidential election, fully 60% agreed that the U.S. should block weapons shipments.…

This 2018 letter from Senate Ethics Committee makes you wonder how Menendez is still in the Senate; & was not convicted of criminal charges last time. A powerful example of how the rotten foreign policy that he championed undermines democracy at home.
