Morning off clinic coincided with the kick-off of the International Street Medicine Symposium here in T.O. Reminded it is just as much about who you are and how you love, as it is what you do. Thanks for a great Wednesday!

Healthcare is Ontario's election issue. Heart attacks in chairs. People deteriorating or dying on EMS stretchers. Ontario - these are your families. Your ERs are beyond capacity. You decide if this is what you want, if this government over 7 years has succeeded or not.

As an emergency physician, I can confidently say that the PTSD and horrors witnessed by paramedics and first responders is dramatically more difficult to process than what we see in the ED. The highest respect to my first responder colleagues.

Ontario has announced $1.8 billion over 4 years to connect every person in Ontario to a family physician & primary care team! Our new graduates will be thrilled to work in teams, & we're hopeful this will help close the gap of 2.5M people in Ontario who need a family doctor. 1/2

Good news. Very much hoping Belleville's HART Hub app is selected in the next round - we are in desperate need.

Premier Ford really had it out for “little Johnny” that needs the ER for his knee injury, laceration and maybe a fracture so we talked it out on the phone today. My mock call with ⁦@fordnation

Not surprising. 73% of Cdns open to major reform of health systems. Let’s do what hasn’t been done in Canada. Let’s design/implement a system of universal access to primary care - a health home for every neighbourhood. Other countries do this. We can too.

Emerg nurses single-handedly carried me through my overnight call last night: their knowledge is next level, their emotional support means the world as I fumble my way through new tasks, and their donut supply is >>>.

On my last ED shift I was struck by the complexity of each patient & I realized this complexity is growing exponentially. One of the biggest policy level misses is our failure to acknowledge exponential increase in patient complexity. Instead we fund & think of HC as linear
