Just in today’s clinic, I helped prescribe access to three air conditioners. Here’s why: . a $500 air conditioner can help prevent a $15,000 hospital admission for heart failure or heat stroke in these heat waves.

There are thousands of reports — you are not going to eliminate homelessness with the National Guard, but with housing.

I find this research in @CMAJ astounding: . “People with an emergency department visit for cannabis use or cannabis-induced psychosis were at a 14.3x and 241.x higher risk of developing a schizophrenia-spectrum disorder within 3 years than the general population, respectively.”.

Alcohol is the third leading cause of cancer deaths in North America. The World Health Organization has explicitly stated that “no level of alcohol consumption is safe for cancer risk.”. Cigarettes come with warning labels — so why doesn’t alcohol?.

As a physician, I’m just not so sure our brains were made to stream this much grief and tragedy day in, day out, while not being able to do anything to stop the hurt/suffering.

There is not enough shelter in Toronto. During winter months, we had to partner with @tngcommunityTO to lift up a Winter Support Hub as people could not access warming centres. The peer worker teams placed more than 2,000 calls to try and get patients shelter beds — very little.
