If you are a monarchist than you have to accept the rough with the smooth. You can’t pick and choose. Anne would have been great. But it’s tough.

“Devastating tour de force” = constitutionally illiterate. We have the rule of law in this country and you can’t just magic a person out of the line of succession by vibes.

I’m coming to the view that the only way out of the problem is for the former Prince to become a Catholic. It is his duty — rather like Prince Philip’s to conform to Anglicanism. We could make it easier by locking him in a room with Fr George Roth for a few days.

@WalkerMarcus What has become painfully clear is that a lot of people think being in the line of succession is a sort of office from which a person can be sacked

Doesn't this contravene official BMA policy re: grandfathering set at ARM 2025? How and why is RDC being allowed to overrule the RB i.e. direct representation? And you still expect IMGs to have faith in you? @TheBMA @BMAResidents

🚨 Warning for NHS doctors The GMC will hold supervisors accountable for the actions of PAs if their work is outside of their scope Here’s the kicker - there is currently NO defined scope for PAs by the Royal Colleges & NO standards for supervision Don’t risk your license!

Partial credit to @BritSocGastro who have actually drawn up a scope document. Skim past the stuff about MSK injuries and behold there is an acknowledgment that some procedures (including UGIB) are beyond the scope of the non-medical scope. https://t.co/gwoEzhwyOQ

Payment in Lieu of Pension (PILOP) is a “buy now, pay later” attitude to pay restoration and would only represent another reduction in doctors’ overall remuneration.

@DrSteveTaylor @wesstreeting I absolutely do not support a reduction in pension for anything. We are the generation who already gets less pension. Our pay erosion means that our pensions are eroded too. By all means address student loans but not by robbing from us in another way.

I worked with Mel during my time on BMA RDC and it was clear even then that she worked incredibly hard and was probably the individual doing the most to push back against doctor substation. I hope this is just an oversight and not picky rectified.

Sadly, I have been abruptly removed from the BMA working group on this with very little notice.

28.9% pay rise was made in good faith. I’ve found myself attacked by opponents - as well as striking doctors - after. I offered, in good faith, to extend the BMA strike mandate to February to allow a referendum on this offer and no strikes before Christmas. It was rejected.

Dear @wesstreeting - Why don’t you just do the emergency legislation anyway as a show of good faith? That might earn you some credibility with a profession who you have alienated very quickly.

Emergency legislation on prioritisation of UK trained doctors + 4,000 extra specialty places (1,000 immediately) = a cut in competition for training places from 4:1 to less to than 2:1. Not at some point in the future, for the current round. These are not grounds to strike.

Hey @wesstreeting you rattled? Maybe you could get your spads to look at the training crisis, bottlenecks and doctor retention rather than getting them to copy graphics from a grassroots group of residents. Embarrassed for you.

Doctors: vote NO to this weak offer. No progress on pay. No new jobs. No employment guarantees. This is an offer to solve the Government's political problems whilst doctors are still in need of pay and jobs. Vote NO (online) to the offer Vote YES (on paper) in the BMA ballot

How are you going to bring down the waiting lists when 20,000 doctors have been frozen out of training. Does anyone in the Government know what they're doing?

We had the fastest-growing economy in the G7 in the first half of the year, but there's more to do to build an economy that works for working people. At the Budget I'll take the fair choices to cut waiting lists, cut national debt and cut the cost of living.

@The_Gusman @alisonleary1 Registered nurse gaps can only be filled by registered nurses. That’s what the research evidence shows. Lives are put at risk if there are not enough RNs to deliver and coordinate care. #safestaffing

Doctors in general surgery and gastroenterology are unable to meet their indicative numbers in endoscopy Non doctors do plenty more. The NHS is forced to employ foreign doctors who are better trained than our own in the UK We can learn a lot from them. But what happens when

There once was a time when registrars were routinely expected to cover their consultants’ lists. Now they’re stuck on exhausting GIM rotas at the expense of their speciality training. @PhilSmithIsBack any insights?

Short-sighted government plans mean that we’re on a merry go round of doctor unemployment and doctor substitution. @wesstreeting has the perfect opportunity to fix this permanently: Pay doctors what they are worth Train them Avoid unsafe substitution. It’s not rocket science.
