This is a pivotal and historic moment for #Canada, #energy and #climate. I am proud to say that I will be testifying, too. #oilandgas + #CO2 = #ClimateEmergency + #wildfires #canpoli
Rich Kruger CEO of Suncor will testify in Parliament on Monday morning. In a summer where 200,000 Canadians were dislocated by catastrophic wildfire he boasted of the "sense of urgency" for Big Oil to make as much profit as possible.

Yes, that orange blob is the sun, and yes, that is Canada building a new pipeline when what we need is new climate policy that doesn't include adding fuel to the fire. @PPSTMX1 @fossiltreaty @petervranj @JustinTrudeau @ElizabethMay @ThuringCh @bcpoli

It's not sulphate aerosols. It's not the Tonga eruption. It's not unicorns or fairy dust. It's human-caused warming from carbon pollution (plus a sizeable natural swing from La Nina-to-El Nino) https://t.co/42TAWw5NhL

My interview earlier today on @CBSMornings on the unprecedented heat and extreme weather this summer, the #climatecrisis that is behind it, and what we can still do about it:

Powerful graphic of our climate choices as of now. And by our I mean me and you. Our choice to speak up, to vote, to volunteer.
1. Global warming will continue until we reach net-zero. 2. The climate consequences will keep getting worse until we reach net-zero. 3. After reaching net-zero we will have to live and suffer in a warmer world for generations. Do we act now or delay further?

In Texas' deadly heat wave, coal & gas plants failed risking blackouts that would cut life-saving air conditioning. Right-wing officials there blame renewables for grid vulnerability but it was ☀️solar energy☀️ that kept ACs on. Solar does well in heat - we need to scale it up

Heat waves scorch multiple countries, the past 20 days have been the 20 warmest days on record for the planet, June shattered the past record and July is on track to do the same. Over at The Climate Brink we ask: if its worse than we expected?

There are roughly 400 forrest fires burning across Canada. Tens of thousands of people losing their homes. Smoky skies choking our lungs. Why? Because of 3 products: oil, gas and coal. At what points do our global leaders start putting our collective safety first?

Given today's atmospheric CO2 levels relative to those of the Eemian, and the temperature then, it would seem we would be locked in to much more than a 3 degree rise. But the models don't say that. Can you help me understand? @AndrewDessler @hausfath @MichaelEMann @ClimateOfGavin

🚨Tweeps: I need an inducible lentivirus plasmid that expresses Cre-recombinase. e.g. like the all-in-one pLVX-TetOne-Puro vector that induces expression with doxy (with Cre cloned in). It must be 1 plasmid, we can't do multiple rounds of infection. Help us save ⏲️&💰 Pls RT 🙏
