The simple solution to this is subdivision. Rather than owning a six-bedroom house worth £2m, own a three-bedroom home worth £1m and have another £1m to spend on a cracking retirement. It should be much easier to subdivide very large houses using permitted development.

NEW PAPER w/ @CSElmendorf & @j_kalla: An under-appreciated reason why voters oppose dense new housing, especially in less-dense neighborhoods: they think it looks ugly and want to prevent that, even in other neighborhoods. Some of what we think is NIMBYism might not be! 🧵

Given how big pressures on healthcare are in Woolwich due to new housing and population growth (as seen in the council's own report this is taken from) it's impressive GLLaB again manage to secure more S106 revenue.
