Had an amazing time working on an R+D with @DeafinitelyT this week! Such a lovely group of people talking about some very important things. A real pleasure to be involved and can’t wait to see how the show develops.

I have listened to the 1984 audible play three times in a row and gearing up for my fourth go. Such a killer cast and incredible sound design actually got me reading the unabridged book itself, and now I'm marvelling at the scriptwriters. Also, sorry, Romesh?! The RANGE! 😱

Access to Work (AtW) is also has a current waiting list of 16 weeks just to be assigned a case manager. That's 16 weeks after making the application before they'll even consider whether or not to proceed to the next stage. It's DIRE.

@jessphillips They're so far behind on PIP renewals and applications I don't see how they could then start approving individual purchases. Need some live saving equipment? Good news the backlog is only six months at the moment.

Hmm? Announcing doing away with PIP on the same day parliament debates assisted dying? Do I see a theme?

The PIP assessments I underwent (and will continue to undergo, as our entitlement is re-assessed every four years..) contributed massively to me developing complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD). I was made MORE disabled by Tories. People WILL die as a result of this.

Some facts about #PIP 1. It is NOT an out-of-work benefit 2. The assessment & application process is hard. It is not "easy to claim" 3. Only 40-45% of claims are successful 4. Getting the correct reward is difficult. Challenging it can take months.

Please remember if you are a claimant: This government is on the way out. Nothing is to change with your benefits. Disabilty is expensive. If you are on PIP, you deserve it. Being on benefits is nothing to be ashamed of. We all thrive in supporting one another. Jay x

Dear Mel Stride, PIP has nothing to do with employment. PIP is for moderate to severe disability and is v difficult to qualify for. Noone gets PIP 'for' depression or anxiety. It is based on a functional analysis. Stop playing smoke and mirrors with people's lives. Jay

Despite their obsession with getting Disabled people in work (even if we aren't able to), the disability employment gap has NOT decreased, and the disability wage gap has INCREASED #CRDP24

UN rapporteur Laverne Jacobs highlights that the UK government's benefits assessments process has led to around 600 deaths in the last 3 years #CRPD24 What answer does the government have to that?

Dear @BBCLondonNews . There is no such thing as Registered Disabled. The government ended registering disabled people over 4 decades ago. Very important when covering stories about disabled people. Thanks 👍

When I saw Christina Applegate getting a standing ovation for getting up on stage, it reminds me how inspiration porn is still alive and well. Disabled people are seen as inspirations for existing but if we ask for equal access, we’re a burden. We’re not here to inspire you.

I donated an E sim to these brilliant people - it’s so easy to do and there’s step by step instructions on their website: https://t.co/D4OqJhZONy. It’s only £6 to send 1GB of data to people in Gaza to counteract the internet blackouts. I used Airalo!
