We find a total of 37K expression-modulating variants (emVars) with allelic differences in transcription. Building on previous work from @jraylab, we show that emVars from annotated cis-regulatory elements (CREs) capture likely causal variants with high precision. 4/n

As part of @ENCODE_NIH, we now test a whopping 39K likely causal variants (posterior probability > 0.5) and 89K distinct signals (credible sets) in MPRA across 5 diverse cell types. 3/n

Understanding how non-coding variants – the bulk of GWAS hits – function at the molecular level remains a huge challenge. We previously fine-mapped variants associated with complex traits in the @uk_biobank and BBJ as well as eQTLs in @GTExPortal. 2/n.
