10 years ago today on 21st July 2012 was my Sky Sports debut as a referee. Terry Jenkins v Kim Huybrechts. Just where has the time gone? I'm very grateful for the opportunity and I'm living the dream, travelling the world to have the best seat in the house. Long may it continue!

I would just like to take a moment to congratulate the Belgian fans here at the Belgian Darts Open in Wieze. They were so respectful all weekend...even when Belgian players were playing. When booing started, the crowd quickly told them to be quiet.

I have to congratulate the crowd here in Wieze, Belgium. They're cheering on their local heroes but not booing or whistling their opponent and applauding the opponent when they take out a good shot or hit a 180. It's lovely to see/hear!

What an absolutely fantastic final that was. Luke Humphries hit a 170 checkout and a 9 darter and it still wasn't enough to beat Dave Chisnall's 105 average and Luke lost 8-7.
Well done to a fantastic crowd all weekend giving the players the utmost of respect!

Getting ready for the World Grand Prix of Darts. Always awkward for a referee at the start of a leg...not only with the maths but also remembering if a player hasn't already started on a double not to call a score. Full concentration needed. I can't wait!

Hitting a bird on the M1 that came hurtling towards me. Frightening times. Luckily I didn't swerve or slam the brakes on as it could have been a lot worse. We are both safely home now. The SOS motorway company and recovery company were really helpful.

Can I just remind drivers that when on a motorway, if you’re not overtaking anything and the lane to your left is empty, then use it. This rule still applies even though it’s dark outside.

Happy with a 170 finish in practice with the lads last night and a 125 finish (bull 25 bull). Happy with averaging 84.34 in the scoring phase in the 5 legs I played in the pub league. Shame I lost as I couldn’t close out the match after leaving D5 after just 15 darts!

Soooooo...Channel 4 are showing the 30th Birthday Championship of Countdown again from 2012/13 where they brought back the top 40 players from the last 30 years. My first round match is tomorrow (Friday 29th May) at 210pm.

Just reading The Times and reporter Giles Smith accuses darts refs as being “battery-operated doorbells”. I’m sure he’s saying it for a cheap thrill but I assume he just means we are able to produce different sounds, have Duracell longevity and are a very useful feature!!!

What's the rarest single number to be hit? This includes going for say a double 2 and hitting a single 2.

There's a reason this sign exists. Your staff are not helpful, that's when they're not striking. Staff member watching us struggle with heavy bags and deliberately shut the doors in front of us and then didn't help us with onward travel.

Saddened to hear the news today of the passing of Tremendous Knowledge Dave Rainford from Eggheads fame. He was a massive darts fan as well. I met him a couple of times and he was always nice to me when we chatted online. Rest in peace my man.

I’m pretty good with numbers but this just shows how many hotels I stay in. I got back to my hotel after the darts and couldn’t remember what my room number was! Tried the key in a couple- didn’t work. I hope I didn’t scare somebody inside!
