The Rate Of Teen Suicide In Colorado Increased By 58% In 3 Years, Making It The Cause Of 1 In 5 Adolescent Deaths
But yeah.. pot legalization has been awesome.
Let's bust some pot myths everyone!
1) 95-97% of people who use heroin/cocaine started with pot.
2) Most kids get pot for free from friends/fam - not from some shady gang member.
3) Most people who us pot also abuse alcohol - they're complements, not substitutes.
What else??

I get how legalization helps the shareholders of pot companies, but please don’t delude yourself into thinking it helps young people one bit.

Newborn’s Death Linked to Acute Marijuana Toxicity

Dear Media,
If you’re gonna write a news article about “where to find 420 events on Saturday,” you better also write one on where to find addiction and mental health treatment on Sunday.

I don’t care if one state legalizes.
Or all fifty.

And we won’t ever forget to hold this industry liable.

Just to be clear:
Legality is a huge part of a drug’s danger.
It breeds normalization and more use.
Consider tobacco and heroin. One to one, heroin is much more dangerous.
But from a society point of view, tobacco kills 10 times more. Why? Prevalence. Why? Legality.
BREAKING—Marijuana legalization will fail in Democratic-controlled Hawaii again this year! Congrats to our coalition- press release and op-ed to follow.
Legal weed has done the opposite of what it was “supposed” to do:
⬆️ youth use
⬆️ underground market
⬆️ disparities in opportunity
⬆️ emergency room mentions
⬆️ mental health problems
And yet advocates sound like the guy falling 80 stories who says “so far, so good!” midway…
New report out of Colorado finds marijuana-positive traffic fatalities, hospitalizations, marijuana use, and illegal market activity have increased since marijuana legalization.

-- Smaller hippocampus volume
-- Poorer learning and memory, and poorer processing speed than long-term tobacco or alcohol users.

People of color do not want to be taken advantage of in the name of big marijuana.
It *is* possible to:
- be a social justice advocate
- act against for-profit policies like drug legalization
- want to reduce America's embarrassingly high prison rate
- end the stigma associated w/people w/SUD
- not want to normalize drug use
- treat *everyone* with kindness

New Study: “When Oregon decriminalized small amounts of drugs in February 2021, it caused 182 additional unintentional drug overdose deaths to occur in Oregon in 2021.”
Blaming "prohibition" & passé terms like the "drug war" on today's fatal overdose rate misses a key point:
Our two *legal* drugs - alcohol & tobacco - are neither prohibited nor part of any "war."
But they are responsible for TEN TIMES more drug deaths than all illegal drugs.
Three years ago, Oregon decriminalized small amounts of hard drugs, including cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine.
Now even some of the policy’s supporters believe that it needs to be changed,

Oregon youth drug-induced death rates are *growing fastest* in the country, driven by fentanyl which in 2021 was 6X the US growth rate and almost +400% since 2019. For All Ages in 2021, Oregon had the *2nd fastest growth* of drug-deaths vs. all other states.

I don't get how anyone in our field can support such a reckless group that wants drug use for all.

And these drugs are *inherently* toxic.
Fentanyl didn’t just magically make drugs deadly.

An utterly dangerous, horrible take by elites with no concept of how this would ravage neighborhoods and families.

It’s not that hard:
No one should go to jail for using marijuana.
Many people using marijuana need help to quit.
