@teortaxesTex least bad idea I know of atm - have the agi/asi solve a list of problems (curing disease, cold fusion, human intelligence enhancement, coordination etc), end all other ais, convince humanity to never make another ai, then end itself

Chinese people are human too. They don't want to be killed by superintelligent AI either.

Fantastic news in the UK today - the government has apparently ditched its plan to force creatives to 'opt out' if they don't want AI companies training on their life's work. The opt-out proposal was unfair and unworkable. Many couldn't realistically have opted out at all, and

Claude is addictive in a worse way, due to this
AI companies are exploiting addictions most people donāt even know exist. Addictions to insight and productivity. Addiction to an elaborately constructed borrowed image. People are becoming intolerant of completing their own thoughts. And being addicted biases you in AIās favor.

Thereās nothing wrong with being called a Luddite. Yeah, I donāt want a harmful technology to be developed. I also donāt care about being called a doomer. I am worried about doom! I donāt want the approval of cultists who are embarrassed if you suggest tech could ever be bad.

@BrandonStraka Isn't it weird that you had to lie when you were making this tweet? Like, you're good and righteous, you're enemies are evil, and yet - when you wanted to speak about your enemies, you couldn't just find their evil, you had to lie. Wasn't there the tiniest hint of discontent?

Had a great discussion with AI in Context about how Congress can be better prepared for a future defined by AI. Check it out!
New AI in Context video, on the New York Times Bestseller If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies, and imo it's a banger. Featuring @deanwball , @RepBillFoster and @dwarkesh_sp

So many do this and it's quite frustrating. For most of human history, we've had multiple real problems.

Our public services arenāt for a secretive profit-hungry US tech firm. Sign the petition to tell the Government to scrap all contracts with secretive US tech firm Palantir.
There must be a ācomplete break from Palantir technologies in the NHS," says the British Medical Association. https://t.co/cfBuoWYdoT

Losing patience with policy doomers who have given up on federal AI legislation in the US, when there are things they can do to make it more likely. We are out of time and options from a managing risk POV and a "not letting this industry fuck itself over reputation-wise" POV

BOMBSHELL: Sam Altman, Marc Andreessen & Joe Lonsdale's $125M SuperPAC has a simple strategy. Destroy *anyone* who tries to regulate AI. They want to make an example of AI safety advocates so brutal that no politician dares touch the issue again.

for a long time now the "doomer vs e/acc" arguments have been largely abstract, coming from the position that realistically the "doomers" have no political power and no way to prevent the race that's already in progress. that lets the discussions remain civil, people talking
Will AI become smarter than humans? If so, is humanity in danger? I went to Silicon Valley to ask some of the leading AI experts that question. Hereās what they had to say:
