Excited to share my work @GroupRiley, out today @NatureCVR: Using imaging, scRNAseq & computational modelling , we find that the neonatal cardiac conduction system can regenerate & demonstrate how MI-induced damage elicits arrhythmogenesis 🫀⚡️. 🧵[1/n].

Finally, modelling the non-regenerative phenotype from the day 7 mouse in the infarcted human heart implicated these changes as causative for heart block 🖥️[6/n].

ScRNAseq revealed the molecular changes underpinning conduction restoration in neonatal hearts, vs sustained aberrant electrical alterations during fibrotic repair that also manifested via ECG 🧬⚡️[5/n].

By tissue clearing neonatal hearts and performing whole organ imaging, we discovered global His-Purkinje disruption and disorganisation of conduction fibre bundling 🔬[4/n].

We found that the conduction system restores during neonatal mouse heart regeneration, whereas it undergoes pathological remodeling at non-regenerative stages 🩹❤️‍🩹🫀 [3/n].

Though arrhythmias are a hallmark of MI, how damage to the conduction system affects arrhythmia is poorly understood - so we decided to explore the impact of MI on the conduction system during heart regeneration and fibrotic repair. [2/n].
