NEW: In a series of interviews, I spoke w/ 3 women who filed police reports against San Francisco nonprofit housing director Jon Jacobo—a once-rising star in local politics.
They filed reports after he was publicly accused of rape by Sasha Perigo in 2021.
EXCLUSIVE: San Francisco gave this organization tens of millions to shelter & house homeless people.
@sfstandard
found it prioritized units for CEO friends/family & the org’s nonprofit status was suspended last summer.
SF is now barring new contracts.
NEW: Lawsuit accuses SF homeless org's CEO of hiding millions in expenses while buying cars for herself & family, driving around w/ "trunk" full of jewelry & ignoring sex work/drug use at shelters.
City asked FBI to investigate the organization last year.
The fatal stabbing of tech executive Bob Lee in downtown SF could have far-ranging implications.
Much is unknown about how he was killed, but the city’s politically engaged tech community is furious & demanding action.

NEW: A plan to fix "broken" San Francisco by eliminating city commissions—giving more power to the Mayor—was withdrawn 2 weeks after being sent to Dept. of Elections.
Ironically, the flawed plan would have given more power to the Board of Supervisors.
John Manly, an attorney for sexual assault victims who was lead counsel on the case against ex-USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar, told me:
“SF law enforcement & political leaders can’t claim to be progressive on all issues, like women’s rights, and then drop the ball here.”
The allegations by the 3 women—who’ve all worked at high levels of local govt & public policy in SF—range from threats & domestic violence to sexual assault & rape.
But their cases appear to be languishing & their attempts to alert his progressive Democrat allies went nowhere.
This quote from the No. 2 in charge of the SF homeless organization:
“There’s always two sides to every story, and actually there’s four sides—because there’s four sides on every corner: the truth, the lie, the middle and the person who really knows what’s going on.”
Word of Parina's death prompted an outpouring of support in SF's political community—he was even eulogized as a hero by a city supervisor.
But his ex-wife told me he never went to Vietnam because of a knee injury during a ski trip.
There are no records of a death certificate.

Original story linked below.
The question of why this is all happening is unclear.

The story includes disturbing audio of Jacobo threatening one of the women & on-record accounts from people who learned of the incidents contemporaneously.

This quote by "Meme King of East Oakland" perfectly encapsulates why so many people are fed up with elected officials in Oakland—and by extension San Francisco.
It's a sense of being penalized for petty infractions when flagrant issues around crime & quality of life go unchecked
