@StormontSources @timcairns @dmcbfs Tim cairns! This is why we can’t recruit doctors here, 4 practices collapsed in the SW so far and more to come with a healthy job market just minutes away in the republic, you want a service, then bloody well pay for it at commercial rates, not the pittance that gms pays GP here

Once again, NI hospitals overwhelmed, inhumane trolly waits and ambulances queuing for up to 12 hours. The most cost-effective way of preventing patients deteriorating to the point of needing hospital care is to increase GP capacity. Indisputably the best bang for our buck.

3) I still think Neighbourhood Model could be such an asset to patient care if General Practice was appropriately funded / resourced . Mandate was clear however that it’s going nowhere until contract agreed by GPC

2)This is not posturing it is rather borne out of desperation . We want to provide better service and access for pts and yes as small Business we need to make money ( or we shut ) but that’s not the driving force for the change . We are already moving to a 2 tiered system

1) Lots of debate today on LMC conference motions . I think it’s fair to say that most NI GPs would prefer to stay in NHS General practice if it was properly funded . The problem is we have been asking but there has been no one wanting to act .

@deirdreheenan nailed it on Sunday Politics. Mike Nesbitt has been badly advised by the civil servants and now has GPs leaving the NHS due to underfunding and disrespect. You don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone

GPs frustrated at funding from Stormont are now talking about the possibility of working outside the NHS. What might that mean for patients? Would they have to pay? Chair of @BMANI_GP Dr Frances O'Hagan spoke to @MarkCarruthers7 on Sunday Politics after Saturday's GP conference

NI GPs yesterday backed a no confidence vote in both the Health Minister Mike Nesbitt and his department. It follows Mr Nesbitt imposing a funding package on GPs in May, even though they had rejected it. "He needs these people", @deirdreheenan tells @MarkCarruthers7

NI LMC Conf this wkd after England last wk An immensely challenging year for NI GPs & their practices 10m appts delivered pa (200k per week) on 5.4% of a £7.8bn health budget Needed £80m; £1m imposed 😱 50p/wk tied to access targets So much cross committee learning 💪
Report to conference by GPC England chair @doctor_katie, Scottish GPC chair @DrIMChairSGPC and GPC Wales chair @GOelmann. Thank you for joining today. #NILMC25

If GPs stay in the NHS the downward spiral will drag practices into collapse and bankruptcy with patients losing their traditional GP service because of DoH incompetence. You don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone

We’re continuing to invest in same-day care at Causeway Hospital & strengthening our links with local GPs who can now refer patients directly to our surgical ambulatory unit 🏥 This will help to ease pressures on busy EDs & reduce the need for hospital admissions. #FocusOnNORTH

“Primary care is the front door of the NHS and it’s clearly broken,” says @ShawnC_GDPC “Government needs to put its money where its mouth is and start fixing it.” The new @CommonsPAC report shows the shift from hospital to community has stalled.👇 https://t.co/y9UT1hiddM

@mikenesbittni can you advise re introducing electronic prescriptions for GPs in NI? England have had for over 7 years. Would greatly reduce receptionist time & risk of errors whilst importantly helping to create time to increase patient access to primary care. Should be priority

Well done Scotland. Nothing’s easy, but all you can ask for is a Govt that listens, understands and acts
"We've listened and we've been persuaded." We welcome @ScotGovFM's acceptance of our long-standing call for a greater proportion of new NHS funding to go to primary and community care to give GPs the resources they need.

Just watching the news and farce of Irish politics today and comments that Irish people are fed up with Hospital waiting lists 🤣 up North we’d happily take your waiting times ! I wonder how a private General Practice interacts with Hospitals ?? I imagine it’s not far off in NI
