The ability to age clot with MRI is not a novel concept, Prakash Saha from Guy’s and St Thomas’ in London. We published validation of his work in a porcine model with Adeline Schwein and @NChakfe
Clottriever contraindicated for chronic/fibrous clot. How can you tell? Patient symptoms not reliable, clot doesn’t suddenly become chronic in 2 wk. We’re working on MRI techniques to make this important distinction, choose the right device for the right patient! @AlanLumsdenMD

Another great piece by Malachi Sheahan! Honest and transparent
"It is time to dispel the illusion that the 10 million Americans with peripheral vascular disease should be cared for by physicians who purport to have gained competence through pathways that are unaccredited, unregulated and untested."

Great meeting, really enjoyed it!
That’s a wrap on the 21st annual Pittsburgh Vascular symposium. We welcomed old friends and made new friends as we discussed cutting edge comprehensive vascular care. Always a highlight of the year! Thank you to all our speakers, participants, and sponsors! @HviUpmc

Seems to me that everything comes down to patient selection. One big difference in the US vs my early days in Denmark is that amputations are mostly seen as a failure in the US, the right amputation can be a therapy for the appropriate patients.
@Isayadicksonjr Not at all true. Proper TMA leaves patient ambulatory and highly functional without a prosthesis. BKA and especially AKA are far worse for the patient

Pretty rewarding, I had the opportunity to use it last week for a thrombosed IVC!
Leaving 1st generation thrombectomy in the past. We had the honor of being First In Man, again, for Penumbra Flash 2.0! With new improved simplicity of clot detection and even better blood saving technology, Flash 2.0 is State of the Art thrombus removal thrombectomy. #CAVT

#VENOUS2024: Aurelia Calero and Ruth Bush detail how patient and frontline provider education can clear up misinformation around venous disease. There is suboptimal awareness, they say, and there is a need for more education to move the needle. @VenousForum
