In recent weeks, I have watched as the Government has undermined Britain’s economic credibility & fractured our Party irreparably.
Enough is enough.
I have written to the Prime Minister to ask her to stand down as she no longer holds the confidence of this country.
I've had a number of emails from campaigners for the 'remain' campaign Group "Best for Britain" over the last few days asking me to support delaying our date for leaving the EU.
I'll respond to each one as soon as I can, but for now, let me sum up my response in one word:
No.
First Minister was quick to claim credit for himself when case rates were lower. Now that Wales has highest rate of cases & deaths in the UK, it's now everyone else's fault!
BREAKING: Labour just voted to side with the EU in Parliament once again.
We're the party that's standing up for the integrity of the entire UK.
Our Internal Market Bill protects our Union, preserves peace in Northern Ireland & ensures unfettered trade across the whole country.
I will be supporting the Government on the UK Internal Market Bill tonight! This legislation is needed to safeguard our United Kingdom

1/ I’m bitterly disappointed at the Government’s decision not to include gender identity in the ban on conversion therapy. Many have asked what my thoughts are. I’ve always believed that this debate attracts unnecessary hysteria and toxicity, and...
This has been an incredibly tough decision. But following my calls for PM to resign on Sunday, I promised to make this decision with the country’s security & stability the only consideration - in doing so it’s clear it simply has to be Rishi Sunak.

3/ I hope the announcement that a separate piece of work will now be done on this issue will be done at speed. If the CT ban passes through parliament without any protections for the transgender community, it cannot be described as anything other than a broken promise.
I'm pleased to have joined

2/...meaningful results can only come from meaningful debate. Understandably, concerns need to be looked at and debated, but it is wrong to exclude protections for a whole group of people from a practice described as “abhorrent”.
A vaccine should not become a privatised commodity used for corporate profiteering.
Instead it should be a global public good and shared with the world.
The
@EHRC
needs to seriously rethink this one. If they think that MPs (even evil Brexiteer Unionists such as myself 😘) will stand by and let them drag LGBT+ people into the culture wars in this way then they are mistaken.
Today’s statements from the Equality and Human Rights Commission (
@EHRC
) are an attack on trans equality and undermine their core purpose of regulating, promoting and upholding human rights.
(1/6)
Good to know BEIS has been working on this. Fair play, the Conservative Party will be able to look back at this period and when asked about climate change, levelling-up, cost-of-living crisis etc will be able to smugly point to how they successfully alienated trans people...👏
The Welsh Labour - nationalist coalition is a devolved disaster. Sadiq Khan's TFL is in tatters.
I asked the PM if he agrees that Labour’s answer is to demand the taxpayer bails them out of their own incompetence.
Labour in both Wales and London has left the public worse off.
Lots of claims were made about Brexit & UK Government and no right of reply whatsoever. Bridgend voted for a Conservative MP and a Conservative UK Government. Any chance whatsoever of even the pretence of neutrality from the state broadcaster!?
This week has been monumental for me personally.
My inbox has been overwhelmed by supportive messages, especially from my constituents. This support is a reminder of the best part of my job, the people of Bridgend and Porthcawl.
My priority remains serving my constituents.
Hey
@NickServini
, your BBC news report today on Ineos, Bridgend featured:
A live interview with Bridgend Labour MS, Carwyn Jones
A taped interview with Labour MS, Ken Skates
A taped interview with Labour Council Leader, Huw David
A taped interview with a rep from the Unite Union
I brought the Labour-run Bridgend Council's shameful plans to drastically increase the fees they charge sports clubs to the floor of the House of Commons today.
Many teams have told me that if these go ahead, they will be forced to close.
I'll be fighting this all the way!
The invasion of 🇺🇦 has put a spotlight on our need to strengthen cyber security. I have written to the PM to enquire about the progress in reviewing the Computer Misuse Act 1990.
Existing legislation must be updated to reflect the technological landscape we live in today.
Weird... A bunch of supporters of Welsh independence/separatism taking issue with my statement in the House today that Wales is 'the most pro-union part of the UK.' They LOVE telling me what Wales thinks, but oddly, they never seem to mention this...
It was excellent to meet with

🗳A vote for your local Conservatives means LOWER council tax and HIGH-QUALITY local services.
Pleased to have co-signed this letter with my colleague
@DehennaDavison
stating that the proposed MPs pay rise is totally inappropriate in the current circumstances.
Today, we have written to the Interim Chair of
@ipsaUK
asking that they freeze MPs' pay.
In the current circumstances we do not consider a pay rise appropriate or justifiable. Whilst so many of our constituents face uncertainty, it is only right we play our part.
I would just like to say thank you for choosing me to be the MP for Bridgend. I feel humbled and privileged, and I will do my very best to deserve this honour. I will post details of my schedule and whereabouts tomorrow, but until then thank you very much and Merry Christmas!
I have written to the Welsh & UK Governments outlining my support for those suffering with motor neurone disease to support them and their families at this difficult time

I am proud to have signed the Book of Solidarity alongside fellow Members of Parliament to show our united support for the Ukrainian people.
Heartfelt best wishes to the Prime Minister on a speedy recovery. My thoughts are with his family at this time, especially Carrie. I'm hopeful it won't be too long before we see him back in No 10. Get well soon Boss.

The LGBT+ community have been betrayed. FIFA has attempted to silence those who wish to share a positive message.
We will not be silenced. We will continue to support equality and equal rights across the world.

Mark Drakeford’s refusal to hold an inquiry has let down those who have lost loved ones across Wales.
In Parliament, I have continuously called for a Wales-only Covid inquiry.
Welsh Labour want more power without accountability.
According to Mark Drakeford, there is no need for a Wales-specific Covid inquiry as the 'world has moved on'.
The families of those who have lost loved ones most certainly have not, they deserve answers.
It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.
The First Minister needs to provide urgent clarity to the Tourism Industry in Porthcawl and across the rest of Wales!
My letter to the First Minister is below👇
Fantastic win for

A great effort by our 🇺🇦 friends. They did their country proud.

Asked by
@marksmith1985
about reopening schools in Wales on June 29, Dr Atherton said his 'preferred option' was for schools to reopen in August but this was not favourable to unions.
Live updates from the press conference:
I just want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! I’d also like to thank all those who are working today such as emergency service staff, public sector employees and our armed services men & women.
For goodness sake, we all want to help the rest of the world and we will, but, defending those in the EU that attack our country's vaccine programme is unforgivable.
With places like Bridgend taking a hit in the process. Now that we rely on them for manufacturing, it seems its OK to the BBC for the EU to send military personnel into factories to stop vaccines coming to the UK, but it's not OK for us to stick up for our own communities in UK?
Thank you to

In the light of 🇷🇺 invasion of 🇺🇦, we must unlock our national cyber-defence to protect the United Kingdom from cyber-attacks.
I was pleased to hear the Minister confirm that the Home Office is currently reviewing suggested reforms to the Computer Misuse Act.
🗣 I attended the sitting of the Welsh Grand Committee.
❌ The dangerous separatist agenda by Welsh Labour and Plaid Cymru is a threat to our Union.
🇬🇧 I am proudly British and proudly Welsh. Wales plays a vital role in our United Kingdom. We are strongest as one united country.
Labour’s tourism tax could spell disaster for the Welsh tourism industry.
This will mean that visitors will pay more to visit Wales.
We need to be protecting jobs in the tourism industry. Labour’s tourism tax will put jobs at risk.
Today I will be marking

and paying tribute to all who have sacrificed so much for our country and those who continue to do so.
At 11am I will be joining many across the country by taking part in the 2-minute silence to show that we will never forget!

Thank you
@sarah4bridgend
for your bravery in opening up on such an important issue.
Your powerful story will help so many young people in similar situations.
The Labour MS,
@sarah4bridgend
, has emotionally opened up in the Welsh Parliament about being “days away” from being sent to an adult psychiatric ward when she was 14yo with anorexia nervosa.
“You are not alone - there is nothing wrong with you a you can get through this”
The First Minister supported Jeremy Corbyn from day one and was the only Labour cabinet member to back him.
I wonder if today he deems it “essential” that one has to be enthusiastic about a Jeremy Corbyn government?
Captain Sir Tom Moore brought out the very best of all of us through what has been extraordinary times. My deepest sympathies and condolences to his family and friends
Finally, many in the EU tried to undermine our vaccine by claiming - WRONGLY - it wasn't safe or didn't work. They didn't want it a short while ago, and now they seem upset we've got it! Absolute madness trying to defend the EU.
Great to visit the Kenfig, Pyle & Cornelly Youth Club - they provide an excellent safe haven for young people locally with a host of different activities and has as many as 90 attending each evening! Looking forward to supporting their good work over the coming months & years!
#SmallBusinessSaturday
is our chance to celebrate the incredible work our local businesses do.

They've written that there's a mass brawl in Bridgend every day! Apparently this passes for mainstream media in 2020.

Hearing far too many reports of Porthcawl seafront being really busy today. We need to listen to the Government's advice, stay at home and protect our NHS because it saves lives.
Secondly, we EXPORT this vaccine information to the EU AT COST. I think it works at around ~£1.50 a dose which is approximately 8-10 times LESS than other countries vaccines. Thirdly, our manufacturing, fishing and industry has taken a massive downturn during our time in the EU.

MPs who continue to dismiss the contributions of those who don't conform to their view of how ethnic minorities should behave.
The pandemic has led to a patient backlog crisis. There are 40,000 missing cancer patients in Wales who are awaiting treatment or diagnosis.
I have written to the local Health Board to ask what is being done to manage the excessive backlog of patients.
They will never learn, will they? It’s about time we had a First Minister in Wales who respects the result of the 2016 referendum.
This isn’t about extending the transition period, it’s about keeping us tied to the EU through the back door.
Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon and Welsh first minister Mark Drakeford write to Prime Minister Boris Johnson to request an extension to the Brexit transition period which is due to end on 31 December
I challenged the FM on his refusal to hold a Wales specific COVID inquiry.
Time and time again, the Welsh Government have asserted they're the decision-makers in Wales. But their refusal for a Wales specific inquiry is a case of wanting responsibility without accountability.
The police will be stopping and checking traffic into Porthcawl. Despite the weather we simply must stay at home this Easter weekend. Take care and stay safe.

I’m very disappointed that Ineos have made this decision not to build their vehicles in Bridgend & I’ve been in touch with the company throughout. Welsh Government needs to reclaim all of our money it has spent on the site for them and send the bill to Ineos.
