Absolute worst case scenario for Jamaica as category 5 Hurricane #Melissa is continuing to intensify right up to landfall. Sustained winds are now 185mph with a pressure of 892mb. In terms of both wind and pressure, this is one of the most intense Atlantic hurricanes on record.

#Melissa's pressure is down to 903 mb - the 7th lowest for an Atlantic #hurricane since pressure consistently recorded in 1979. Here are top six: Wilma (2005): 882 mb Gilbert (1988): 888 mb Milton (2024): 895 mb Rita (2005): 895 mb Allen (1980): 899 mb Katrina (2005): 902 mb
