"The Prime Minister’s announcement that the UK intends to recognise a Palestinian state has caused immense pain and anger within the Jewish community. Not because we oppose Palestinian sovereignty, but because the manner and timing of this decision will make peace even more.

At times like this it is vital that our community allows different voices to be heard. All of us are supporters of Israel, all of us wish to see the hostages return and all want to see peace in the region. How that will be achieved is complex and there are many different.

There are still 50 hostages being held by Hamas. To recognise a Palestinian state while they remain in captivity is nothing short of a reward for terrorism.
