Eddie inquired why they had ignored our screams. The response was on brand for the City. Apparently so many people scream at the top of their lungs at City Hall that it is generally ignored 11/

This is a big deal. A rate of three per cent might not sound high, but billionaires would have to pay it every year. As Saez says in the piece, it's not just a revenue raiser: it's an effort to tackle extreme concentration of wealth. https://t.co/kH7ODMSCOV

The 2020 presidential candidate will target the wealth tax on those with more than $50 million, an economist said.

The new chair of the Antitrust Subcommittee, @davidcicilline, plans hearings, legislation, & lots of public engagement. "Maybe people don’t know all the words — monopsony, antitrust — but they know the system is rigged.” https://t.co/Uj8MgHkDsx

The congressman spent the past two years getting his arms around the antitrust problem, and he’s ready to start making changes.

1. Ok, how did this election shake out from the perspective of *governing*? Well it's a moment of transition. Clearly the Democratic Party establishment is still in control of the party. Democratic voters like their leaders.

The big prize #Amazon has gotten out of its #HQ2 stunt is not the PR value of a bunch of city leaders singing its praises, or even the billions of $ in subsidies that it will extort from public coffers. It’s the data. 1/

And on and on and on. All this starts with someone genuinely searching for basic information about the Federal Reserve! And this is where you can end up in two or three clicks. And it's making money for YouTube all along the way. Something's deeply rotten here.

1. A short thread on how ideas travel, with a case study on the problem of monopoly, now being studied by central bankers at Jackson Hole. How did this idea break into modern discourse? It started in the late 1990s, with a journalist named Barry Lynn (now my boss).

I’m excited about promoting a local progressive like @CoriBush ! But I continually hear concern about her several evictions and tax liens. This obviously makes many people hesitant and worries me as well. Am I missing something?

The Tax Act creates additional incentives to shift actual jobs offshores, not even just income.
