I'll say this too -- as an indie filmmaker with friends who are also indie filmmakers, it is literally the only way our films are being written about!
A million things to hate about the media landscape but for now I'm not worried about "the Letterboxd-ification of film criticism," as I saw one older critic put it. I think it's neat that the kids have an app where they're talking about, for example, The Piano Teacher (2001)

Maybe for some but I do think sites like Letterboxd and RYM have helped me discover things I would not have seen or listened to otherwise that emotionally impacted me so I think they are a net good at this point in time
