I am in no doubt that the best interests of the SNP, and all of Scotland, are best served by John Swinney becoming the new SNP leader and First Minister of Scotland.
John is one of those rarest of things in modern politics – respected and admired across the political divide.

Satire and cartoons are part of our political life and of course this can be edgy. However this crosses a line, it is offensive and does nothing to foster respectful debate. I am surprised by
@thetimes
who should both withdraw and apologise for this.
It has been many decades of service by
@JohnSwinney
for
@theSNP
He has always put party and country first. It has been a pleasure to campaign with him since we were teenagers together and have pride in him as he steps forward to be our leader and first minister.
I am delighted that
@JohnSwinney
has put himself forward to lead
@theSNP
and to become First Minister of Scotland. Cometh the hour, cometh the person to unite the SNP and Scotland. John has the experience, skills and passion to see the SNP deliver for Scotland building of the…
Goose bumps. These good folks are stepping into the extreme against an entrenched mafia. Gods smile on them.
20% of their country is occupied by russia and they're going to make damn sure the rest of Georgia will not fall to the Kremlin regime.
Wow ! this from

"As we celebrate 20 years in the EU ... the World Bank forecasts income per capita will be higher in Poland than in the UK in 2025. I promise this: on the 25th anniversary, Poles will be wealthier than the British. It's better to be in the EU !"👇
I despair at how some are approaching this leadership contest. We’ve seen far too much elevating of the personal over the political, and in doing so we all end up being dragged down. Have we learned nothing from last year - a contest at John Curtice said cost us up to 5%.
Yesterday was a sad day, but today we must move forward. I believe Scotland now needs stability, experience and diplomacy to lead us forward. I hope
@JohnSwinney
will stand to be the next
@theSNP
leader and First Minister of Scotland as he brings all those qualities and more.
I know how big a privilege being First Minister is, but also the toll it can take. I also know what a wrench it is to step aside, even when sure it is the right thing to do.
Humza has conducted himself with grace, dignity and integrity - both as FM and in the manner of his…
Thank you
@HumzaYousaf
for being our First Minister and leader of
@theSNP
, it has been a pleasure to work with and support you. You are a good and a decent man and I am so sorry that you have felt compelled to resign as FM. We can be proud that you were elected as our leader.…

@MhairiBlack
: "The UK's own arms policy states that if there is even a risk that war crimes may be taking place, then that is reason enough to halt the sale of arms."
This further cements Scotland’s reputation as a global leader in floating wind technology.
