In all fairness, the reason Mask of the Phantasm did so bad in the box office, was because it was given the theatrical release at the last minute, when it was intended to be direct to video.
Spider-Verse did have to deal with Sony Animation’s bad rep, but still made bank.

Said this before. Part of what made Family Guy work before was that it didn’t rely entirely on crude humor despite it’s target demographic, and could utilize gags that could fit into a kid show, and still get genuine laughs.

Just offering my own thoughts. While I can see where you’re going to, I still feel these shows had more detailed designs and don’t look as derivative of each other compared to a lot of stuff today. Maybe it’s applying more to the non human characters, but that’s what I think.
