After 11pm on New Year’s Eve 13 years ago a locum GP rang our doorbell. She’d seen our 6 year old son’s blood test results and didn’t want to wait til morning. He had leukaemia with dangerous complications. I have no idea what her name is but she saved his life. Cheers to her 🥂

The good grace with which @LewisCopeUK accepted his unexpected elimination coupled with his encouragement for young people who may now be inspired and believe in themselves speaks volumes. Thank you @Mrs_katjones your choreography was outstanding. #StrictlyComeDancing #strictly

At a time when the BBC is being battered it’s great to see the inspirational instant dance segment on #strictly - absolute chaos but fantastic entertainment! Well done everyone! #strictly #StrictlyComeDancing @ClaudiaWinkle @TessDaly #liftingspirits

What could possibly connect the author of James Bond, an exiled King, an aquavit bottle, and WW2 saboteurs? The answer - a tree 🎄 Read the fascinating history of the Trafalgar Square #Christmas tree on @historicuk 👇 https://t.co/oTF2z2bmsw

What could possibly connect Ian Fleming, author of the James Bond novels, an exiled King, and the unquestionable bravery of Norwegian Motor Torpedo Boat (MTB) crews and commandos during World War II?...

We gathered together as a school to mark Remembrance Day. We read 'Where the poppies now grow'. One of our Head Pupils then read a poem before we linked live to national coverage of the 2 minutes silence which was observed impeccably by the children.

I am so very proud of Team Robins @RaundsPark who observed the two minutes silence impeccably this morning. We used the CBeebies Poppy Animation as a visual whilst observing the silence. We have also shared the beautiful book ‘Where The Poppies Now Grow’. Such respect shown. 🌟

Remembering my Gt Uncle Arthur, (standing right) from Kent who died in Mesopotamia, 1917. This letter was written to his sister, Daisy, by Arthur's friend, Gr Harris, (seated left). "He was a very brave man and liked by everybody ... he knew no pain" #LestWeForget @BBCRadioKent

Remembering through stories. As we approach Remembrance Day, I’ve been reflecting on the power of picture books to help children understand and honour the past. Few do this as beautifully and sensitively as Blitz by Martin Impey.

Look at our lovely Remembrance Day art work. The children used watercolours to create their sky and land. Then used a cotton bud with red paint to create their poppies. @RodbourneCheney

Amid all the furore around the BBC, let’s not forget the many dedicated professionals who’ve spent their entire working lives committed to honesty, balance and public service. They’ve achieved a great deal of good, often quietly and without seeking recognition.

Year 2 enjoyed their workshop with Mark Impey this afternoon. We looked at the book ‘Flo of the Somme’ and found out about the remarkable bravery of the animals who risked their lives during WWI.

Here’s some more fabulous poppy artwork, this time in Year 4. Brilliant creativity as the children used collage skills learnt in Term 1 to create their own individual poppies! 🌟
In preparation for Remembrance Day next week, we have created our own poppies using the collage skills from term 1. Look out for them in the classroom windows over the next couple of days! #RemembranceDay @RodbourneCheney
