One of Scotland's rarest invertebrates, the medicinal leech, has been found in Dumfries and Galloway for the 1st time! The leech has been confirmed to be in 3 ponds on the Solway coast by @Buzz_dont_tweet as part of the Species on the Edge programme. https://t.co/xjPsv59MTa

Great to see this paper out. I played a small part in it as a co-author, but it was heroically driven from the start and across the finish line by @LMSchiebelhut.

Have you spotted our teams with their eyes to the ground at @HighlandWPark? We've been on the lookout for rare small scabious mining bees! These surveys are an important part of our work to boost native biodiversity at our sites and reverse species declines πŸπŸ’š

Huge step forward for dark bordered beauty conservation! I couldn't be prouder of my team and their hard work on this species alongside all our partners at @RareInverts6. We're that bit closer to moving this species away from extinction and towards recovery. 😊

Working on a species we don't know much about can be challenging, but it can also be awesome when we get to see things that no one has ever seen before! πŸ€“πŸ˜ƒ A great example of why partnerships are so key in #conservation. Thanks for helping us bring this to life, @CNPnature!

Super proud of our @rzss #conservation team at @HighlandWPark who are doing some painstaking work looking after the cutest wee caterpillars around. Dark bordered beauty moths are restricted to just 3 sites in Britain. I'm stoked that we get to help with trying to improve this.

Fancy raising 400 babies, all small enough to be lost at any minute? 😬 The dark bordered beauty mothΒ caterpillars in our conservation breeding programme are so wee they have to be moved with teeny paint brushes! But the baby boom is great news for this threatened species πŸ›πŸ’š
