We can change the system from within! A large portion of the publishing problem is us, academics. How about starting a new non or low-profit publishing company and all move there? No…bc we like the glossy journals and IFs.
Recap: I #Resign @jbiogeography because big publishers prioritize profit over access, journal quality, an open market-place for ideas; while eroding editorial independence & devaluing editors (despite record revenues last year e.g. Wiley >$2b). #JBI #BetterPublishing

This Dungeness crab die off indicates there is a hypoxia event developing off the coast of central Oregon. Fishermen carrying oxygen sensors are reporting low O2 and dead crabs in pots. Keep an eye out and report what you see to @PiscoScience or @PrimedNetwork

Inaction is a choice; it’s a risk that has costs. @RyanPhelan6 does a great job highlighting intended consequences and the potential for genetic rescue!
Optimism indeed! You can now watch @RyanPhelan6 speak at TEDMonterey 2021 where she makes an inspiring case for #conservation, #geneticrescue and #intendedconsequences. Let’s work towards the future we want. https://t.co/cjmhVPHbwx
