Evidence suggests wildcats hybridising with domestic cats is a symptom of population decline in Scotland 📉 Despite pet cats arriving prior to 350 BCE, interbreeding only began 70 years ago. Centuries of persecution and habitat loss left so few wildcats, they had to mix 🐈

Haring around 🐇 Data from the GPS-radio collars has highlighted that wildcats released this year are caching and feeding on hare carrion. GPS points clustering on a carcass gives the team the unique ability to locate the site and record behaviour by installing trail cameras 📸
