The Council unanimously passed the Rights of the River motion last night ๐ŸŽ‰ A bold step to protect a river under pressure, setting up a platform which will empower communities to deliver on-the-ground conservation, and ensuring future planning puts the River Wensum first ๐Ÿ’ช

Climate change is causing serious pressures on our already depleted wildlife. Nature (& people) need assistance in adapting to what is now inevitable rapid change. One thing we can do is to expand the number & size of wetlands (Beavers can help with that).

It's a butterfly bonanza! ๐Ÿฅณ Butterfly numbers have soared at Sweet Briar thanks to the good weather, with over double the population compared to last year ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฆ‹ We were so excited to see this clouded yellow - this species was last seen on the reserve 20yrs ago! Sarah Wilde ๐Ÿ“ธ

Ummm... what did I just see? ๐Ÿ˜ณ This male moth is releasing pheromones to attract a mate. It extends its coremata from its abdomen, which has feathery 'hair pencil' structures that help waft the scent into the air ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’Œ๐Ÿ‘ƒ Lucy Denman ๐Ÿ“ธ

If you haven't spotted a swallowtail yet this year, there's still hope! ๐Ÿฆ‹ Pristine swallowtails have been seen on the wing at Hickling, likely a second brood. This caterpillar was photographed at Ranworth ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Holly Nichols ๐Ÿ“ธ

Can you help Canterbury District Biodiversity Network shine the spotlight on one of our most iconic and important species? With the help of @ATMstreetart we hope to create an amazing mural very close to one of the city's most active beaver lodges ๐Ÿฆซ https://t.co/V31yiBFDbD

Excellent news from @SteveReedMP @DefraGovUK today on plan to end the hugely destructive practice of #BottomTrawling in England's Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) A very important step that will, finally, give a chance for nature to start to recover in English seas #ThankYou

A memorable trip today in search of Britainโ€™s scarcest amphibian - the Northern Pool Frog. It went extinct here during the 1990s, but a brilliant partnership effort is aiding its recovery, with frogs now once again breeding in the wild. Thank you @NorfolkWT for hosting the visit

Anti-nature rhetoric from the Chancellor would have you believe that nature blocks growth ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ New evidence shows that isnโ€™t the case โ€” bats & great crested newts are a factor in 3% of planning appeal decisions ๐Ÿคš๐ŸŽคโฌ‡๏ธ Help us hold the gov to account ๐Ÿ‘‡ https://t.co/Fggk54aS0j

Bats and newts arenโ€™t the problem โŒ weโ€™re tired of hearing the Chancellor pin the blame for slow development on wildlife! After promising to protect nature, UK Government is now doing the opposite. This has to stop. Take our simple action today ๐Ÿ‘‡ https://t.co/tKvWkqbIo7

Astonishingly, bats make up approximately ONE-FIFTH of all mammal species worldwide. They are the only mammals that can fly, and are found on every continent except Antarctica. Here, rescued fruit bat Colin enjoys a banana. #BatAppreciationDay
