Worth reading. Also worth remembering that a proportion of the recharge in the aquifer is from rain clouds that originate over the Amazon rainforest. If that ecosystem continues to shrink (to the point of potential collapse), so will food security in North America (& the world).
First they drain the aquifer. Then they switch crops. Soon, there won’t be water for any crops. Depletion of major groundwater source threatens Great Plains farming
