The so-called Peace Plan reads more like a surrender document. It rewards the aggressor and treats Ukraine as a defeated nation. I can’t see how Zelensky c’d accept it. Here’s what European leaders should do to get Trump to accept there must be a real negotiation with Ukraine.

Munich, Molotov-Ribbentrop, Yalta, Budapest Memorandum: let’s not add another really terrible deal, all in the name of so-called “realism”, betray millions more people to a generation of suffering.

Putin was in danger of failing in his Ukraine war. Now the US peace plan gives him everything he wants — even the parts of the Donbas his troops were incapable of winning. Ukraine, the injured party in this war, gets absolutely zero.

This proposed peace plan by Putin and Trump is the worst example of appeasement. If Russia gets the Donbas, then there will be nothing to stop Putin from rolling up the rest of Ukraine. The rest of NATO needs to tell Trump that there will be no Nobel Peace prize for appeasement.

The Ukraine peace deal Steve Witkoff has ‘negotiated’ with Russia is seen in Kyiv as an all-out victory for Putin. Ukraine must lose half its army, accept the loss of Crimea and much of its eastern territory, and can’t join NATO. Russia rejoins the G-7 & its assets are unfrozen.

This is one of the few things (maybe the only thing!!) I agree with @mgshanks on. SNP opposition to a key aspect of energy transition is harmful beyond belief. Nuclear is a part of energy provision and ignoring it is a self-inflicted wound.

The next generation of new nuclear delivers tens of thousands of well paid, skilled jobs and apprenticeships. The SNP is the only block to Scotland benefiting from those opportunities.
