In @eLife today: Natural forgetting reversibly modulates engram expression
elifesciences.org
Causal investigation of engram ensembles shows that natural forgetting is an active and reversible process driven by perceptual feedback, supporting the perspective of forgetting an adaptive function...

🌟 Cai Lab @Nature paper alert! In new work led by @mysteriousjoe_, we find that rest periods after learning not only stabilize new memories BUT ALSO integrate new memories with older ones from days past! (1/9) Read it here: https://t.co/Ur8dbGfuP3

Now more than ever - we want to hear from our LGBTQIA+ colleagues worldwide and learn about their needs. If you are #LGBTQIA + in #neuroscience , please share your input. If you're not, please share this post.
With colleagues at @network_alba, I'm running an international climate survey for #LGBTQIA+ people in #neuroscience (including #psychology, #psychiatry, etc). It takes 10-20 min & you can enter a drawing for gift cards. Please repost & share w/colleagues. https://t.co/Dk2bnHeuHJ

Hippocampal ripples during offline periods predict human motor sequence learning. Work led by the brilliant @PinChun_Chen.
biorxiv.org
High-frequency bursts in the hippocampus, known as ripples (80-120 Hz in humans), have been shown to support episodic memory processes. However, converging recent evidence in rodent models as well as...

My annual reminder to please include figures and legends in the manuscript along with the text. Otherwise, I may not read your preprint. If I have to review it without them, I’ll be starting off on the wrong foot. I love science, but don’t make me angry. Right @andpru ?

Prefrontal synaptic regulation of homeostatic sleep pressure revealed through synaptic chemogenetics | Science
science.org
Sleep is regulated by homeostatic processes, yet the biological basis of sleep pressure that accumulates during wakefulness, triggers sleep, and dissipates during sleep remains elusive. We explored a...
