📢Ever wondered what was driving persistent #drought over thousands of years in the last 12.000 years (so-called #MegaDroughts or #GigaDroughts) in North America? Hence why the prairies were even wider than they are in the last ~2000 years?.We finally managed to figure it out 🙏

Firing and/or silencing scientists won't stop #GlobalWarming. Hiring "experts" to downplay or question the issue won't stop #GlobalWarming. Deleting webpages informing about climate change and it's impacts won't stop #GlobalWarming.
Trump has made three well-known (or notorious) climate contrarians Special Government Employees. Do they have good arguments for their anti-mainstream views? Check it out yourself with concrete examples. (Spoiler: highly questionable. ) .

#KeepItInTheGround.

After the meteorology conference #DACH2025 in Bern, I took the perhaps longest continuous high-speed connection through Germany from Basel to Kiel. It was a relaxed trip 1st class. Just internet on board or via phone is terrible. So better plan for offline work, e.g. read papers!

No, the weather station Hohenpeißenberg (WMO No. 10962) is not in a town as you can see in this picture. The very small villages of Hohenpeißenberg and Peißenberg are remote and downhill. @orwell2022 @connolly_s @ChrisMartzWX

@BolinCentre @ed_hawkins On the notion of "unprecedented": Some of the very long station records indicate that, in rare cases, it was very warm briefly in some years a long time ago. Based on the last 2-3 decades, there is another useful definition:. #GlobalWarming = "the absence of cold".

And there is no urban heat island #UHI on the mountain (989 m above sea-level) of Hohenpeißenberg (1781-2024) in my home region of southern Germany.
