New paper alert on @NatureComms . We tackle the challenges of phasing-out #fossilfuel #finance in the #banking sector and we explore how syndicated #bank lending networks shape #policy responses. Have a look at 👇 amazing #Thread summarising the main insights of this work:

Why do banks’ fossil fuel policies fail? Our new research out now in @NatureComms shows how the substitution of finance between banks makes fossil fuel lending resilient to the uncoordinated withdrawal of individual banks. Key insights🧵 https://t.co/7egu8Q6dYs

Typical Silicon Valley (pseudo-) logic: let's just pretend this tech is magic, and that its costs don't matter. Yes, there are many meaningful climate-positive applications of AI, but we urgently need to address the environmental impacts of (superfluous) generative AI.

Another remarkable paper today. The study shows that gender bias is stronger in images compared with text. It is interesting considering the use of visual social media platforms, the attitudes of younger generation towards reading habits and the potential risk of enduring biases.

Remarkable paper as it explores a crucial question: how to guide a fair transition away from #fossilfuels in low and middle income countries? Congrats!

"Underfinanced. Underprepared" the title of the @UNEP #climate #adaptation gap report says it all. The estimated #adaptation #finance gap is USD 194-366 billion per year and progresses in adaptation planning are plateauing rather tha accelerating.

Civilians in Gaza desperately need core services and supplies. We need rapid, unimpeded humanitarian access. We need food, water, medicine and fuel now. We need it at scale and we need it to be sustained.

My personal top-5 favorite graphs/exhibits from Claudia #Goldin papers 1. Gender pay gap is present in (almost) all occupations, even controlling for age, race and education. Why? Because of the "value placed on the hours and job continuity of workers" https://t.co/8cPcwPe0q3
