A new paper estimates that Chernobyl cost 318 million life years by discouraging the construction of nuclear plants and thus increasing air pollution. If we conservatively estimate life expectancy at 80 years, that's about 4 million lives. https://t.co/iaVpDKEwy7

Hey @joshm , I'd love the option to select @perplexity_ai as my default search engine in @arcinternet, instead of google. Is it possible for you to add this? cc @AravSrinivas

Why did the U.K. prove incapable of deploying rapid testing at scale quickly when it had a 4 month head start on Slovakia (who did), whilst Vaccines moved fast? Rapid testing was inside this system, Vaccine procurement was airgapped. Also why AI task force must be air gapped!

Anthropic's Claude AI blows past #GPT4 with a new 100,000 token context window (75,000 words). Enough to fit Harry Potter Book 1! Unsure how quality degrades (if it does) over length of convo. But if context windows can infinitely scale, embeddings may be in a little trouble.
Introducing 100K Context Windows! We’ve expanded Claude’s context window to 100,000 tokens of text, corresponding to around 75K words. Submit hundreds of pages of materials for Claude to digest and analyze. Conversations with Claude can go on for hours or days.

Very interesting to see how LLMs (and chat interfaces) are going to become the norm even in fields like intelligence and defence.
Today, @scale_AI is launching our 2 major platforms to bolster government and enterprise: 🎖 Scale Donovan, the AI copilot for defense 🏙 Scale EGP, full-stack generative AI for global enterprise 👇 See Donovan in action below 🧵 on our platforms and why they are so critical

The good news: if we stop plastic from entering the ocean, most of the ocean cleans itself. The bad news: this does not apply to the ocean garbage patches. This is why we need to clean them up https://t.co/5TcKWuFnUs

Natural language query access of all public data will become the norm very soon.
Built https://t.co/jcSGSjy1O8 to let anyone query SF public databases with just natural language. "show me all the muggings" "where are all the needles in Hayes Valley" access to public safety and demographic data should be democratized code is open-source and linked below:

A mental model I have of AI is it was roughly ~linear progress from 1960s-2010, then exponential 2010-2020s, then has started to display 'compounding exponential' properties in 2021/22 onwards. In other words, next few years will yield progress that intuitively feels nuts.
