No thanks, Mr Musk. Taiwan is a full-fledged democracy and a sovereign state, not an admin zone. Also, the world must understand that China won't accept any proposal that Taiwan is not part if it. China even cannot hold promises to HK. Making deal w/ China is always an illusion.

Fact check: this is the world's very first offical warning for Covid-19 outbreak in Wuhan, issued by Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare in Dec 31, 2019. Taiwan is indeed the first one to report to WHO (and messages ignored by authority).

On Taiwan's local election: 1/ It has very little to do with the China policy. Local election is always about local issues. Any analyst saying TW is going to be pro-China is simply not true. However, China's leader may have illusion that they can still buy supports from TW.

Polls have long shown that people in Taiwan increasingly identify as Taiwanese, not Chinese. But what does that shift look like on the ground? What does it mean to say you’re Taiwanese? We go deep with one family to find out. w/ @amy_changchien 1/

@niubi @EdwardGLuce Taiwan has never been ruled by China (People's Republic of China). Even in the ancient times, China (Qing or Ming Dynasty) only loosely had some administrative activities in a very small part of the island. Plz stop saying Taiwan is part of China. That is not true.

China's "war and peace" propaganda often misplaces invader and defender. For defenders, it is not "encouraging war" but to strengthen self-defense capability. And the only possible cause of a cross-strait conflict is China's use of force.

My latest: Following major overseas trips by the current and former presidents, political parties are gearing up for #Taiwan 's 2024 presidential election — with the slogan "war or peace" dominating the conversation. Feat: @FangYu_80168 and @lnachman32

Reminder: Taiwan's exclusion from the World Health Organization due to Chinese pressure poses an unnecessary global health risk, especially when mystery viruses start spreading beyond China's borders. For Beijing, politics trumps lives.

Yes. Taiwan is a country. Most important of all, we should not apologize to China simply because China does not like what we said.

This is the CCP in the public. Imagine how the CCP treats their people without public eyes, esp. in China where the already-limited media freedom has been severely suppressed since Xi Jinping took power.

Indeed. And the only one possibility of a "crisis" in Taiwan Strait is China's invasion. Taiwanese Presidents Will Not and Can Not Unilaterally Change Taiwan’s Status @Diplomat_APAC

President Tsai: "We don't have a need to declare ourselves an independent state, we are an independent country already and we call ourselves the Republic of China, Taiwan." An interesting comparison is former President Ma's interview in 2015.

I am quoted by @BBCWorld . China has adopted a carrot-and-stick strategy, forcing Taiwan to agree on "One China Principle." China's military exercises aim to deter US and Taiwanese politicians from getting too close.

@MOFA_Taiwan Taiwan is a democracy and sovereign country, which is not ruled by China(People’s Republic of China). However, the historical issues after WWII have given Taiwan the official name of " Republic of China" has always lead misunderstanding of the relationship between TW and China.

China's insane threatening actions: record high number of aircrafts, 38, 39 to 52 in three days. This is a challenge to not only Taiwan, but also all over the world.
