Anyone who cares about Europe's future and who loathes Putin should want this plan to succeed. It's the single most important decision Europe could take.

Noah Smith is the closest thing to a total intellectual fraud you can find (even worse than @charlesmurray). He even admitted reviewing an economics book without reading it. Don't bet that he read anything of Orwell beyond the titles on Amazon.

Makes no sense. Orwell was a socialist. Noah Smith and Matt Yglesias's hatred of leftists has grown hugely over the last two years and evidently derives from being negatively polarized by the left's criticism of Israel and its ethnic cleansing.

This is the sense of entitlement and detachment from reality that led Biden to make the tragically misguided decision to run, to his own detriment and the country's. His chief counselor did him no favors then, and is doing him no favors now with nonsense like this!
