However, WW1 did not officially end until 28th June 1919 when The Treaty of Versailles was signed. Many troops were not demobilised until 1920. Any troops who died from their wounds after Armistice and up to August 31, 1921, were still buried in official war graves.

They gave their bodies to the Commonwealth, and received praise that will never die, and a home in the minds of men. Their story lives on without visible symbol, woven into the stuff of other men's lives. Peter Aston (1938-2013) #ArmisticeDay

#OTD in 1605, Guy (AKA Guido) Fawkes was discovered in the cellars below Parliament with 36 barrels of gunpowder. His plan, to kill The King and all his Ministers. The Yeoman of the Guard (not Yeoman Warders) still search the cellars before the State Opening of Parliament 🏰

And here is the bag, that was discovered in the attic of West Horsley Place Surrey, where his wife lived and died. It is thought to have held Sir Walter’s head 😳
Because nothing says love quite like holding onto your late husband’s embalmed head… 😳 After his execution, Walter Raleigh’s embalmed head was given to his grieving widow Bess, who kept it with her in a red velvet bag until she died 29 years later. #InsideTheTower

It’s weird, we’re told it’s too difficult to deport people quickly, but when it’s someone who has embarrassed the government, he’s gone within a matter of hours.
Kebatu is back in Ethiopia - where he belongs. I thank colleagues in the Home Office for this swift deportation. I have already established an independent investigation into the events of last Friday, and prisons now have the strictest checks ever to prevent release errors.
