Yesterday the Liberal Democrats won a historic vote at Westminster in favour of a new UK-EU Customs Union. This would be the single biggest step the government could take to grow our economy. Keir Starmer must now listen to both Parliament and the public on this.

Rachel Reeves should have used the budget to announce a new customs union with the EU. Research has shown that a better trade deal like this would turbocharge our economy and with that revenue, we can stop piling endless amounts of tax on struggling households and high streets.

👍Today, Edinburgh's Regulatory committee accepted two @EdinburghLibDem proposals from Cllr Ross & myself: 🛅 Tougher penalties for rogue landlords operating unlicensed Short Term Lets. 🚕 Better signage at Taxi Ranks across the city, such as Leith Street & Waverley Station.

Edinburgh's #HousingEmergency affects the most vulnerable in our city. Last week, Lib Dem cllrs proposed to keep pressure on the Scot Gov to fairly fund affordable housing, updated Impact Assessments, & get more regular scrutiny on the annual budget.

Too many places with his levels of child poverty do not quality for support under the UK Government’s Pride in Place scheme so I asked the minister to look again at criteria.

Lib Dem councillors blocked the proposed cut to school crossing guards back in April, and again voted to keep them earlier this month. Road safety can't be overlooked & schools & parents must be consulted.
