May 3rd marks 40 years since Cllr Robert Aldridge, Lord Provost of Edinburgh, was first elected to City of Edinburgh Council. I asked the Government to do more to help aspiring councillors from diverse backgrounds, so everyone can represent their communities like Cllr Aldridge.
