This botched SNP scheme denied support to almost all of the farmers it was meant to be helping. It is a complete scandal. The SNP Government wasted farmers’ money and time in encouraging them to apply; it is no wonder so many of them feel let down.

The new electric car charge will hit rural areas like the Highlands harder than anywhere else due to the lack of public transport options and the large distances that journeys can involve. This must not be another city-centric policy that hits those in rural areas with the bill.

I was out campaigning in the Borders when I heard of our fantastic victory in Fort William and Ardnamurchan this morning. Congratulations to our newest councillor, Matthew Prosser! Right across Scotland, from the Borders to the Highlands Liberal Democrats are winning again.

Scottish Liberal Democrats are winning the fight against the SNP in the Highlands. The SNP's relationship with rural Scotland is broken. The Highlands deserve better. By backing the Scottish Liberal Democrats, you can get change with fairness at its heart.

We’re weeks away from Nicola Sturgeon’s deadline for closing the attainment gap, but the SNP are still a lifetime away from making it happen. The SNP’s promise to a whole generation of pupils from deprived backgrounds is irrevocably broken.

While a lucky few head over the Atlantic, the appetite for watching Scotland’s games back here is going to be off the scale. The Scottish Government should support our calls for huge fan parks across the country and late night licences for pubs for show the games.

Securing support for islands like Arran, Islay and Mull shows the committed community campaigning that you only get from the Scottish Liberal Democrats. The job is not done however. Our coastal businesses are every bit as impacted by disrupted ferries and they need support too.

Today’s comprehensive “state of the nation” report into the Scottish economy from the CBI and Fraser of Allander Institute is another stark warning sign that we are lagging behind on so many levels. Be it skills, entrepreneurship or long term sickness, urgent action is needed👀

People are crying out for real change and a solution to the cost-of-living crisis. A customs union with the EU is the single biggest step the government could take to grow our economy, put money back into people's pockets and generate billions for our public services.

For the women who have spoken up about their experiences of travelling to Inverness to give birth, the SNP’s backtracking will be a real blow. Holyrood has voted for an independent review of maternity services in Caithness, that is what we should now expect. No ifs, no buts.

Yesterday the Liberal Democrats won a historic vote at Westminster in favour of a new UK-EU Customs Union. This would be the single biggest step the government could take to grow our economy. Keir Starmer must now listen to both Parliament and the public on this.

In 2016 Nicola Sturgeon promised to close the attainment gap within a decade. At the current rate for numeracy in primary schools, it will take another 133 years to close the gap. The SNP’s promise to a whole generation of pupils from deprived backgrounds is irrevocably broken.
