@ottrTweets @shiamuz "years later". Shane and Lori was weeks later at most which is much worse (with a strong hint something was happening pre apocalypse).

Good morning. A statement from me on some of the response to our analysis of National's Foreign Buyer Tax. A statement from me only, and not necessarily wholly endorsed by @NickGoodall_CL or @MHReddell though they may wish to jump in with their thoughts.

Did you know that a CGT would raise a total of $11.7 billion in just its first six years?.
With the usual suspects and a few new friends once again beating the drum for a capital gains tax, I thought it might be a good time to remind ourselves why we haven’t got one and shouldn’t get one. In the Weekend Herald today

@m_h_lumber The double finger should be retired as an insult in the same way Michael Jordan retired the no. 23. It's just going to feel wrong to use it again after this peak.

2 things almost every politician will come together to achieve:.1. cleaning each others' billboards.2. protecting their housing assets from falling house prices even when it means perpetuating homelessness and a redistribution of wealth to the already wealthy. It's heartwarming.

You released personal information about beneficiaries in order to shame them, sanctioned them into destitution, and your successors want to do the same. But, ok, let's be polite.
Hey tweeters. Breathe. It’s ok. Our great country will keep being great. Some are hurt. Some are tired & hurt. I’ve been there. But it’s gonna be ok. The nasty sh$t is just nasty and unnecessary. Let’s play the next couple of weeks out with a bit of dignity. I include you media.

@sprogmama @jk_rowling sadly, even though I've defended her constantly throughout all this, JK pretends I don't exist. But thank you for the mention!.

What if you live in a single room house with your grandparents and you win a golden ticket to a chocolate factory tour and are gifted a billion dollar business from the murderous owner?.
Ok but what if an orphan saves a box of puppies from a house fire and the grateful owner gives them their lotto ticket and then it wins the $18m jackpot… how much of that hero’s money would james and Marama greedily steal!!?!?.

"unclear signage"
Bold move by @WgtnCC to hit ratepayers with a flood of bus lane fines just months out from local elections. In April alone, the new Cambridge Terrace camera racked up $15k a day. That stretch can be quite hectic for drivers - busy traffic, unclear signage, and bike & bus lanes.

This is incorrect. Rental inflation in Auckland across all tenancies (not just new tenancies which is what Bishop is citing) is 3.6% in 2024. Well above overall CPI inflation in Auckland of 1.6%.
This is incorrect. The Rental Price Index (using the flow measure) for Auckland rents is actually down 0.6% since November 2023. Measured by mean using the MBIE Rental Bond Database there’s been a 0.8% increase since Oct 23. Well below inflation.

@JayLouis @UndraftedJ Yeah man, there was also that bit where the military lied to the team about Japan not being on the verge of surrendering and there being another way.

RNZ's political editor said there are no downsides to National's sanctions because people who voted National love this kind of stuff. If a journalist can't find, or even imagine, an outcome or angle that could change people's perspectives, they might be in the wrong job.
Here's Luxon saying he believes that someone on the JobSeeker benefit, who has cancer, should still be looking to work 10 hours a week:

Turns out it's ok to question politicians about their religious beliefs and what kinds of policies that might bring in.
From the Nats & NZ First agreement:."Refocus the curriculum on academic achievement and not ideology, including the removal and replacement of the gender, sexuality, and relationship-based education guidelines.".

Interesting to note that Bart was the only person to run the story of how Todd Smells. in the entire country. Makes you think about what other stories aren’t being covered.
Interesting to note that yesterday ACT issued a press release regarding the Auckland Museum and I was the only person to run the story … in the entire country. Makes you think about what other stories aren’t being covered.

Iona Pannett just claimed ("I did a quick calculation of your rent" that @RebeccaJEmm's $65 rent in 1990 would be $463 now just due to general inflation. This is massively wrong. It would be $143. Pannett actually looked at housing inflation (which councils have caused!)

A bunch of people confused as to why, in a pandemic, sickness benefits might rise and why economic uncertainty, from a pandemic and rising interest rates, would see fewer people being employed full time and so on jobseeker. Economists are very bad at their jobs.
Article doesn’t have latest stats. 11.5% of working age population (1 in 8.7) receive a benefit up from 11.0% last year. 15k rise. Work ready +4600. Health condition +6000. Supporter living payment +2100. Sole parent +1800. An economic AND social issue.

@simonjbridges I don't know what true proportions are, but for the sake of argument, suppose that 5% of pills are bad and testing reduces this to 1%, then total pill consumption would need to increase 400% to increase harm. You should reconsider.

@NicoleMckeeMP @GraemeEdgeler Tame explicitly covers this response 4 mins in. 1. Paula Bennett cannot recall you ever raising the issue. 2. You say it was outside the TOR (though not explicitly excluded according to Tame), yet claim you raised it repeatedly. .
