It’s sad and bizarre some people are spending their energy suppressing simple symbols of the visibility and pride of our - my - rainbow community. You can’t paint over our existence. Love always wins.

While National struggles to piece together its trickle-down budget to serve vested interests and gut public services, we must be clear with NZers that these are choices made to uphold a deeply unfair economic model. Different choices can be made. https://t.co/6jOnhObl1z

Every week that passes seems to tighten the fiscal noose for Christopher Luxon and co – a noose, moreover, of their own making.

.@NZGreens welcome Labour to the desperately long overdue conversation on progressive tax reform. We’ve got mountains of reports, including those commissioned but the former Govt, about how desperately unfair our tax system is. What we need is the political willpower to fix it.

Moe mai rā Rod Oram, intellectual giant of progressive civil society; kind, patient and generous human to all. The climate movement has lost a champion far too soon. The Green Party sends our deep condolences and love to his whānau, friends and community at this tragic time.

Did you know that @_chloeswarbrick’s Rental Warrant of Fitness bill would fix this, and ensure all renters have healthy warm homes? Now you do.
Fewer than one in 500 rental properties are being checked to make sure they're up to the Government's minimum Healthy Homes Standards because there's an expectation that landlords should be honest, Housing Minister Megan Woods says. Of those checked, 53% failed.

To address the nonsense obfuscatory arguments, I also sought to table in @NZParliament correspondence (even just from my side) with the many, many Nats spokespeople I tried to engage on the issue throughout the campaign for my Bill. They also weren’t keen on that.

It’s not public transport vs bike lanes vs pedestrianisation vs dense housing. With what the climate is telling us, it’s public transport + bike lanes +pedestrianisation +dense housing, as quick as we can.

Wild pretzel logic from @DrShaneRetiMP on @NZQandA re Nat’s position on my Alcohol Harm Minimisation Bill. Targeted sports? I was v happy to get rid of all marketing/sponsorship, on the record & behind scenes. They weren’t. No good faith, evidential nor logical argument against.

'We did it' - $15m government pledge to help restore Auckland's St James Theatre. @_chloeswarbrick, kudos to you for spearheading this effort. Well done. The pity is it took so long for the government to get on board.

Violence like this has no place in our city nor our country. We utterly reject it and are dedicated to ongoing work on evidence-based interventions to prevent it ever happening again, which I fully expect will be openly and thoroughly discussed and debated in due course.

There will be a time after grieving and reckoning with this senseless violence to address policies and politics.

I’ve been in contact with Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei and the Office of the Mayor who have confirmed downtown’s FIFA fan zone will be closed tonight out of respect for those who have lost their lives. I agree with this decision.

We were briefed on the facts, including that this was very clearly an isolated incident connected to the workplace and that there is no further associated risk. That said, Police will continue to be out on the beat and present at the FIFA kick-off as planned.
