I never thought that we would reach a stage that half of new doctors don't have jobs and are forced into benefits- yet we have people with no medical training doing the jobs of doctors! You couldn't make this stuff up
From saving lives to saving pennies. The state of a career in medicine within the UK. With the NHS in the state it is, why are we leaving doctors unemployed?

It saddens me greatly to echo this As a doctor of 18 years I would not recommend medicine as a career for A-level students Leave uni with £100K debt, competitive entry, rigorous exams, significant sacrifices ….for ⬆️% unemployment & replaced by those without a medical degree
I would strongly recommend any A level students considering medicine as a viable career in the UK to simply not.

1️⃣ Most people don’t realize how unusual the UK’s doctor-training model is until they compare it internationally. France, Germany, Australia, the Netherlands — all move doctors to independent practice years faster. The UK isn’t the norm. It’s the outlier.

Presented at #AHA25: In patients with atrial fibrillation after successful ablation, rivaroxaban therapy did not lead to a significantly lower incidence of a composite of stroke, systemic embolism, or new covert embolic stroke than aspirin therapy. Full OCEAN trial results:

Recent data suggest phrenic nerve injury occurs in up to 40% after pentaspline PFA. In our Farapulse PVI cohort, day-1 dyspnoea worsened in only 3%, suggesting largely subclinical injury. Read our letter in @hrs_journal: https://t.co/pqblWl5dNb

Honoured to conduct a fabulous 8 day ablation proctoring roadshow in India. Performed dozens of complex cases with local cardiologist colleagues in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi & finished by delivering talks at the IHRS meet in Vizag. India on cusp of massive EP boom: Jai Hind!

One of the many aspects of electrophysiology that I love is that you have to be a regular doctor, not just a proceduralist. This of course requires training in IM. But having to spend that much time in general medicine seems off.
In England, EP training is being squeezed by the need for dual accreditation in general internal medicine. We argue that this risks a generation of underprepared specialists. Our article in AER : https://t.co/xx4WVIVmLp

It’s been an absolute pleasure to have @DrMarkMills with us @LiverpoolEP @LHCHFT for his PhD for the past few years. He should be proud of all his achievements, and he is clearly destined for great things . All the best!
Last day as an EP Clinical Research Fellow at @LiverpoolEP. Loved my time at @LHCHFT and will miss it dearly! Now just crossing my fingers for my PhD viva. Grateful to my supervisors @DhirajGuptaBHRS @vish_luther and @LiverpoolCCS and my friend and colleague Peter Calvert.
