Beinart talks to the "religious left" (a 35yo lubavich single cat lady who doesn't observe Yom Kippur and a pro-Mamdani Satmar) to find out how Orthodox Jews could finally start caring about the Palestinians. A trio who really has their finger on the pulse of observant Jews.

This was the best @cowenconvos of the year imo. Extremely wide-ranging interview, tons of great China-related thoughts, but also at the core a conversation about the foundations of the social order and how societies evolve. Strongly recommended listening.

One of the top 3 lessons in all of economics and economic history is how wrong this take is. 180 degrees from the truth. The *only* thing that can consistently solve the problem of poverty is aggregate GDP growth. Harvard statistician btw.
@Alexand16730477 Poverty is, in large part, a relative condition: lacking sufficient purchasing power, compared to others, to secure critical but scarce goods like housing, education, and medical care. Aggregate GDP growth, by itself, doesn’t solve that.

Do all bubble-era CEOs say as many insanely stupid things as Jensen Huang?
Jensen Huang told a Cambridge Union "Intelligence is about to be a commodity" For a long time, school and hiring treated “smart” as scarce, because fast recall and clean problem solving were hard to scale beyond the best individuals. AI has flipped that. Jensen explained

I found the most obtuse interpretation possible for the rift in the GOP
Heritage Foundation implosion has been a wakeup call for some conservatives about dangerous trends on Trump-era right. I hope they will see that nationalism is inherently prone to bigotry, and reject it in favor of universal principles of the Founding:

ngl I'm always amused when I read expert calls and see a question that demonstrably proves the analyst has no idea what he's even talking about

Let me get this straight. Married guy (to Palmer Luckey's sister btw) who goes around banging 17yo girls is going to tell us about "What Caused the Destruction of the Nuclear Family." Conservatism™️2025!
How did we wind up with identity politics and censorship again? Didn’t we just vote against all of that? Matt Gaetz explains. (0:00) What Does “Antisemitism” Even Mean at This Point? (12:39) Government Coups and Immigration (18:20) Are There Any Sovereign Leaders Left in the

The next iteration of "on a long enough timeline everyone is selling ads" is in the making
I have fairly high conviction that over the next 18-24 months the commerce funnel is going to start changing rapidly, but a lot of actors in the ecosystem seem anchored to things kinda just staying the way they are because it hasn't happened yet.

The only thing the GOP really had going for it was Trump, who has a cult of personality that's like nothing I've ever seen. This incoherent bulls**t, together with the disgraceful embrace of full on Jew haters, is bound to collapse.

Nicki Minaj said something at Amfest that was really profound. I'm paraphrasing, but she said, "just because I want little black girls to think they're beautiful doesn't mean I need to put down little girls with blonde hair and blue eyes." We all got wrapped up over the last

"Don't text sarcastic emojis talking about lending fraud" is probably good advice (not legal advice!)

Okay this Tricolor fraud is hilarious. From @matt_levine. I feel like this could be made into a good screenplay.

Gotta watch this video from 8:42 on. You really can't reach any other conclusion but that Bin Laden won the war fought in the wake of 9/11.
@Steve_Sailer The Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister is asked at 8.40 about the Australian govt's response to Islamic hate preachers. Presented without further comment. https://t.co/XXtMyczuxf
