Without free speech and free expression, academia cannot flourish, and no democracy can survive. We, in the UK, are living through perilous times. Say the wrong thing, criticize the wrong group, and you might face a Non-crime hate incident (NCHI), lose your job or even face jail.

Good thread 🧵 .Sadly seen this play out across the UK, even in academia. I believe opportunities should be open to all, judge people on their merit and their potential but don't discriminate against others in the process . Positive discrimination is still discrimination.

Brave lassies, no doubt some media goons will label them "Far Right" whilst not reporting on why these mothers are afraid, and have had to resort to protest. The duty of any government is to protect its people first, especially its children. Not to house the world's dregs.
The large protest of brave mothers outside of the Britannia hotel in Canary Wharf, are now sat on the pavement and road chanting “stop the boats!”. Absolutely agree with them. Government(s) have let women and girls down.
