Are predicted grades accurate? This wonderful blog from @FFTEduDatalab explores the question, and my takehome is that *on average* they might be, but for an individual student it's pretty much guesswork. Link in reply, well worth a read.

Onward don't seem to recognise that half of all Welsh children have special needs! Cut the education system some slack.

Primary schools receive a ‘Compare your good level of development (GLD)’ report from DfE. It compares actual GLD to a contextual estimate based on demographics. If they can do this at EYFS, maybe could do same at KS2 and do away with RBA. 🤔

We have a new video on our website explaining exactly how our new AI plus Comparative Judgement assessments work. It's very different from just asking an AI to grade a paper. It's much more reliable than that, and has simple built-in human oversight too. Check it out!

I am blogging again!!! Like many others, I've moved over to Substack for a bit of a refresh. First entry is on school improvement - where to start, and what things matter. Link is in the first reply, I'm weirdly a bit nervous about it it's been so long 😭😭

QLA is an extremely common practice in schools. It sounds like it makes sense. Go through a paper, see which questions students did badly on. Respond accordingly. What does Becky Allen think about QLA? She doesn't mince her words! Tune in and share :)
